Growing and Learning in the Sunshine with Literacy

According to Google, the Month of May is likely named after the Roman goddess Maia, who oversaw the growth of plants. We think May is also a great month for growth in learning, too! Getting outside and soaking up the sunshine gives us lots of Vitamin D…and that’s just what we need to keep our bodies and minds strong! 😊 We look forward to hearing from our learners and their tutors about all the great learning that happens in May and June! 😊

Our Singalong Program has been lifting up learners’ voices and their literacy skills for over 15 years now. Come join us in the library on Thursdays at 2 PM to improve your reading, your pronunciation, and have a lot of fun singing! Singalong is open to learners in both the Literacy and LELL programs.

Mother’s Day

I hope you all celebrated all the Mothers and the women providing a motherly role in your life. Writing a little poem for that special person in your life is always a beautiful gift. It shows them how much you care and uses your skills at the same time. Below is an acrostic poem which gave us some inspiration this week. An acrostic poem is a poem in which the first letter of each new line spells out a word, message or the alphabet.
