Welcome to our July newsletter! We have some exciting updates and announcements to share with you this month.

New Drop-In Classes

We’re excited to offer more Drop-In classes to meet your learning needs. If there are specific topics you’re interested in, please contact our Programs Manager at [email protected]. We value your feedback and suggestions!

For the remainder of July, we have the following drop-in classes every Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at PALS.

July 17th – Join us for a hands-on session where you’ll learn the essentials of Google Drive. This class will cover what Google Drive is, how to use it, and an introduction to Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Perfect for beginners, you will have the skills to create, share, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Whether you’re organizing your personal files or working on a team project, this session will help you navigate Google Drive with confidence.

July 24th – This class covers an informative session on Cyber Security, where we’ll explore the basics of staying safe online. Learn what a computer virus is, how antivirus software works, and tips to protect your personal information. This session is designed for beginners and will provide you with essential knowledge to navigate the digital world securely. Whether you’re browsing the web, shopping online, or using social media, you’ll gain valuable insights to enhance your cyber safety and protect your devices from threats. No prior experience needed!

July 31st – Discover the ins and outs of any social media platform in this drop-in session. Learn how to set up your profile, navigate the interface, and using key features to connect with others and share content. Whether you’re new to social media or looking to enhance your skills, this session will provide practical tips on how to use it effectively and safely. By the end, you’ll be ready to explore, interact, and make the most out of your social media experience.

Computer Basics: Perfect for those with little or no computer experience.

Internet Basics: Learn how to use the internet, send emails, recognize frauds and scams, and stay safe online.

Skills for Work: Covers word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Perfect for those who are in workforce/going into workforce.

Smart for All: Learn how to use your smartphones and tablets.

DLELL: Learn the very basics of a computer and English at the same time!

If you or someone you know is interested in any of these classes, let me know!
Learning to use computers can help you connect with friends and family online, is needed for many jobs, helps you stay up to date with your children’s school, and is just fun!

Fun Fact

On July 6, 1991, the world’s first website went live. It was created by Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist at CERN, the site was dedicated to information about the World Wide Web project. The site is still online today, explaining the basics of the web, how to set up a web server, and how to create your own websites.
