Math in January

I hope you all had a great New Year! As we head into 2024, let’s celebrate PALS with a renewed commitment to improving literacy so that this can be a transformative one for all of us.

Program Activities:

One-on-one and group tutoring will continue as before.

Winter term science class: This is a specifically designed course for trade learners. The class starts January 6th from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM at the PALS office.

Rapid Trade Math Course: In addition, if you are interested in joining our 15-week Rapid Trade Math Course, please contact us at [email protected] for more information and registration details. This course is highly recommended for learners who are either at module 7 (fractions) or almost on the verge of taking the exam. The expected start date for this course is February 2024.

Math Test Prep Workshop: This three-hour mock exam is scheduled for February 25, 2024. Learners will be given 50 math, 30 English reading, and 50 science questions. This workshop will give you an understanding of time management during the exam. Learners would also be taught how to manage exam-related anxiety, understand multiple-choice questions and use the recommended calculator.

Financial Literacy Class: Are you interested in enhancing your financial literacy skills? Join our upcoming Financial Literacy class planned for March. This program is for learners who want to understand the foundations of budgeting and savings. It would be a once-a-week workshop comprising four classes. Learners will use their own examples to understand how to control their expenses and income. In addition, we’re open to suggestions and ideas about what else YOU want to learn in this regard. Your input is valuable to us.

Life-Saving Skills Training: The Basic Life Support class is on Saturday, January 27 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and a two-day Standard First Aid Workshop is on February 10th and 11th. It is a sixteen-hour work-shop with a two-hour break. Each day the workshop will begin at 9 AM and finish till 5:00 PM. Please register as soon as possible at [email protected] as workshop seats are limited. Certification would be provided by the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
