Greetings from your Math Literacy Coordinator! We’re on a mission to boost our community’s math skills, and it’s exciting to see our learners making progress and finding success! Here’s the latest news from the PALS Math Literacy program.
Science for the Trades Class
Every Saturday from 10 AM to 12 PM at the PALS office, we’re diving into science with Seun, our instructor. The first class started on August 12 and runs until November, with a new class set to start in January.
Math for the Trades Class
We’ve started math class specifically for the trades at the Stanley Milner Library. This class is designed to cover all the material needed to pass the exam in three months, taught by our instructor, Jackie, and with the benefit of peer learning.
How to Manage Your Money Class
This 4-week class will help you understand how to track your expenses, your needs and wants, and make a budget. The September class has already started, but registration for the October class is still available. Let us know if you’re interested!
Welcoming New and Retuning Tutors
A big shout-out to our new tutors, Paige and Sam! We look forward to seeing the impact you make!
And a special welcome back to a long-time tutor! Peggy first started with PALS back in 2013 and is returning after a two-year break.
What’s on the Horizon?
In the fall, PALS will be offering a Standard First Aid course for the Trades, and a Basic Life Support course. Stay tuned for details!
