Treassa, Literacy

I came to P.A.L.S. for help with reading and writing. My mom told me about P.A.L.S. She thought it would be a good place for me to get help to feel better about myself and to develop reading skills. This would help me with everyday life skills and also help me to help my children to succeed in life.

When I first came to P.A.L.S. I was treated with respect and kindness. At first I was nervous because I wasn’t confident within myself. But I was ready for new experiences and to prove to myself that I could do better. For years I thought within myself that I couldn’t improve my reading and writing skills.

My reading and writing skills have improved which has given me more confidence and respect for myself. I am now confident enough to give this speech. Through reading I’ve learned what to do in different situations. This has improved my life skills.

My experience at P.A.L.S. is more than I expected. There are more opportunities for different things besides reading and writing skills. I experienced teamwork and success. The people here are willing to help others. P.A.L.S. has a great support team.

Since coming to P.A.L.S., I am feeling more confident in myself. My inner self is coming out more. My vocabulary has also improved.

My self-confidence has made me more outspoken, and given me the opportunity to do new things, such as: reading menus, papers, making lists and sending and receiving messages. I now feel appreciated by others. I am able to help my children with their schoolwork.

My newfound self-confidence has made me happier and more able to help others. I would tell other people who are having the same problems as I did to go and get help for success in life and for their well-being. P.A.L.S. is hope giving. It helps you to open your mind to new and better things. It will help you to succeed in life.
